BRIEF: Comcast Deploys 45K Wi-Fi Hotspots in Response to Hurricane Florence
September 14, 2018
To help emergency personnel, businesses and residents stay connected throughout Hurricane Florence, more than 45,000 Xfinity WiFi hotspots have been opened across the Commonwealth for anyone who needs them, including non-Xfinity customers.
The hotspots are open now through Monday, Sept. 17. A map of where they are located may be found at xfinity.com/wifi.
Once you reach a hotspot location, select the “xfinitywifi” network name on list of those available and then launch a browser. Xfinity customers can sign in with their username and password. Those who are not X-finity customers may select “Not an Xfinity internet customer” on the sign-in-page. Non-Xfinity customers will be able to renew their complimentary sessions every two hours through Monday, Sept. 17.
Customers may check their Xfinity app for notifications about service outages and restoration. Your TV, modem, cable box and other electronic devices should be plugged into a surge protector to protect them from damage in case of lightning or a sudden power outage.
