Overleveraged companies could be the cause of the next financial crisis given their high levels of debt. Major US corporates have been taking advantage of low interest rates and favourable quantitative easing conditions to pile on debt and acquisitions. US companies have $4.4 trillion in rated debt maturing through 2022, before more expensive refinancings take hold.
