Huawei, Intel, China Mobile Complete 5G Interoperability Testing

July 11, 2018

Huawei, Intel, and China Mobile have announced completing 5G interoperability and development testing (IODT), which they said would help accelerate the commercialisation of 5G networking equipment globally.

The trials, conducted in China Mobile's research institute, saw the companies utilise C-band spectrum under the 5G New Radio (5G NR) standards set by 3GPP; 64T64R Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (Massive MIMO) antenna configuration; and Intel's 2T2R terminal.

"This was multi-vendor 5G NR IODT with full protocol, full channel, and full procedure finished, which means that 5G network and 5G terminals from different vendors can not only perform functional tests, but also can further implement 5G service tests [and] support various enhanced mobile broadband services such as ultra-high-definition video and VR," the companies said, noting data transfer rates of 1.5Gbps.
