Phoenix Communications Provider Acquires Midwestern Telecom Network Firm

November 13, 2018

Phoenix-based Cable One Inc. is acquiring southern Illinois’ leader in fiber optic-based telecommunications.

The acquisition of Harrisburg, Illinois-based Clearwave Communications adds to Cable One's existing fiber footprint and expands the telecom's service offerings, according to Cable One.

The deal, announced Nov. 12 for an undisclosed all-cash amount, also provides a platform to allow Cable One to replicate Clearwave’s strategy in several of the company’s existing markets, according to a statement.

The money will come from Cable One’s cash on hand and its existing revolving credit facility.

Cable One executives were not immediately available to comment on the acquisition.

Cable One (NYSE: CABO) is a Phoenix-based broadband communications provider and among the 10 largest cable companies in the U.S.

Clearwave owns and operates a high-capacity fiber network offering dense regional coverage in southern Illinois.
