Privacy Bills Inbound Ahead of Senate Hearing

The Senate Judiciary Committee today will hold its first hearing this session on online privacy—and several key members are teeing up legislation on the topic. Sen. John Neely Kennedy plans to unveil legislation designating data ownership as a property right, and Sens. Ed Markey and Josh Hawley are rolling out sweeping updates to children’s privacy laws ahead of a Senate Judiciary hearing today.
