T-Mobile has promised that by the end of 2018 they will have 5G live in a handful of US markets. Now T-Mobile and Nokia have announced that they have successfully tested their new 5G radio called 3GPP. These new bidirectional radio transmissions will be used when 5G rolls out later this year.  

“This test is a big step forward in building REAL 5G that will work on actual smartphones,” said Neville Ray, chief technology officer at T-Mobile. “We’re excited to continue our work with Nokia to move the future of wireless forward and bring 5G to customers!”
