Why Cybersecurity is Looking to AI to Mitigate Business Risks

Malicious cyber attacks against government and private businesses have increased in frequency and severity over past years. Microsoft estimates the potential cost of cyber-crime to the global community at $500 billion and that breaches of data will cost the average company around $3.8 million. The unfortunate truth is that the cybersecurity industry is largely unprepared for the increase in cyber attacks anticipated in the coming years. Cybersecurity professionals are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with industry demand. The situation is expected to worsen by 2021, when as many as 3.5 million cybersecurity roles will remain unfilled. Considering that most IT professionals already work an average of 52 hours a week, it is unlikely they will be able to further compensate for the lack of new talent.
